TL Sutherland (they/them) has been studying percussion for three years and is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in performance and conducting at Wilfrid Laurier University under the guidance of Brennan Connolly and Dr. Leah McGray. In addition to percussion, TL has played the flute for over 13 years and the violin for 15 years. In 2023, TL was a member of the Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra and the Woodshed Percussion Ensemble at MusicFest, The Nationals, in Niagara Falls. Most recently, they were appointed as section leader for the Laurier Wind Orchestra, principal timpanist for the Laurier Symphony Orchestra, and worked as a percussionist for the Laurier Musical Theatre pit. In 2024, TL garnered numerous awards in flute competitions and scholarships, returning to their hometown with over 10 accolades for their musicianship. TL is committed to advancing their music education with the goal of inspiring young non-binary BIPOC youth to pursue their aspirations. Outside of music, they enjoy playing video games, walking their cat and painting. TL hopes to travel to all 195 countries and share their music with the world.
