Kendra Chow

Music has been a part of Kendra Chow’s life from day 1. She started with piano lessons at the age of 3 and eventually added in vocal lessons. Singing instantly became a passion and mainstay in her life.

Kendra studied music at Western University specializing in vocal music. Upon completion of her Honours of Music Education program there, she went on to attain her Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto in 2011. Since then Kendra has been a private vocal coach, a choir director for UTSC Community Choir and Halton Showcase, and a high school music teacher and music director within the Halton District School Board.

While music is a passion for Kendra, she considers teaching her calling. She believes that music helps to reveal the real child, not just through the process of music development and creation but also through the building of a music community. Kendra believes in developing the WHOLE person and often spends time outside of class to help students deal with problems outside of academics. She strives to incorporate core human values in all her vocal and instrumental classes; instilling understanding, acceptance, collaboration, compassion and accountability into her program. She considers it a tremendous honour when students open up to her so that she may offer guidance to help them navigate through this short period in their lives. To Kendra, teaching music is an immense privilege while also an incredibly humbling responsibility.
