Hilary Whiskin

Hilary Whiskin has experience both in music and in working with people. As a Wilfrid Laurier University grad in Music (composition) and Communications, Hilary has a vast knowledge of the percussion world. She has worked both in percussion ensembles and has taught music lessons for over 15 years.

As director of CRASH Rhythm, Hilary enjoys sharing her love of percussion with people of all ages. CRASH represents an alternative, dynamic and engaging approach to music education and exploration. CRASH uses drumming to tie together teamwork, creativity and fun while also learning the basics of music, composition, rhythm and drumming. Hilary is pleased to be running a marching percussion workshop with campers at Band Camp Halton. She believes that every child should have access to music education.

Hilary has also been a camp counsellor, winning the Matthew Stone award for leadership excellence, as well as being the music director at Port Nelson Glee camp in Burlington. Hilary is the founder of the Junk Line; a garbage can drum line that originated at Laurier spirit events such as sports games, local festivals and the 2015 PanAm games. The Junk Line can now be seen playing all over Southern Ontario; playing at festivals, parades, conferences and local sports teams. Hilary believes that every person should have the opportunity to make music no matter their age, experience or economic class.
