Alecia Blackman

A dedicated educator and performer, Alecia Blackman is the head of music at Bernie Custis Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario. She completed both her Honours Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music Education degrees at Western University, and earned her Bachelor of Education degree from Nipissing University.

Alecia has conducted many notable groups including the Elmer Iseler Singers, the HWDSB Honour Bands, and was also a guest conductor this past year for the Canadian Band Association’s Community Band Weekend at McMaster University. She is a member of the Ontario Band Association as the Golden Horseshoe Representative and also sits on the planning board of the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival.

As a performer, she has recorded for several movie soundtracks, worked in pit orchestras across Ontario, sang in the Carnegie Hall premier of ‘Requiem for the Living’ by Dan Forrest, and is a current member of the After Hours Jazz Band through the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band program. Alecia is very excited to work with the musicians this July at Band Camp Halton.
