Repertoire Commission

Each year, Bandology commissions a new piece of wind band repertoire to be played and premiered at our summer band camp program. We strive to provide opportunities for Canadian early-career and young composers, as we make the choice to feature underrepresented composers.

Call for Proposals

This year, Bandology is putting out a call for proposals for a Grade 0.5-1 (B100) piece for wind band. The selected composer will receive a $500 honorarium, as well as coaching sessions to develop the piece. The piece will be premiered on July 10, 2026 at Bandology’s Band Camp.

Proposal Guidelines

One 0.5-1 level (B100) piece for wind ensemble, 1-3 minutes (likely no more than 60 measures, up to 70).

Composer Eligbility

Student or recent graduate of an undergraduate music program at an accredited Canadian institution.
Preference will be given to those who are specializing in composition during their studies, or graduates with a degree in composition.
Composers must be Canadian
Bandology is committed to providing opportunities for composers who are women, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+ and/or local to our organization.

Instrumentation

All pieces should have the following instrumentation (flex band notation is encouraged):

Percussion – battery, mallet and auxiliary, maximum 4 players (2-3 preferred)
