Bandology’s summer Band Camp is a week-long day camp for keen music students in grades 7-12 who want to improve their instrumental music skills in the summer.
ANNOUNCEMENT – Band Camp 2020 is cancelled
While the province has stated that day camps may remain open, the facts are that instrumental music requires a lot of air going into and out of instruments, and we know that COVID-19 is transmitted via aerosol particles. We just don’t want anyone to get sick or to take illness home, so this year, it’s best that we not meet in person.
Band Camp provides a fun opportunity to advance music skills in the middle of summer for students who are keen musicians and are involved in concert bands in their local high school or junior high.
Led by some of the best conductors, clinicians and music teachers in the GTA, campers enjoy using top-notch music facilities to participate in warm-ups and chorales, break-out into sectionals and small groups, and rehearse as a full concert band. There’s also lots of fun with games, camp projects and team-building activities. At the end of the week, campers have a final day pizza party while preparing for Music and Mocktails, a free mini-concert for parents and friends.
Band Camp is $395 for the week. Before and after care is available for an additional charge. Students bring a nut-free lunch and snacks. Camp spaces are limited, so early registration is recommended. Click here for registration info.
Campers bring their own instruments; percussion equipment is provided. Don’t have your own instrument? Don’t worry – click here for details of our partnership with Long and McQuade.
For campers with financial challenges, we have partnered with local community funding organizations such as the Halton Learning Foundation. Please contact us for more details.
Think you are a bit too old to be a camper but have lots of experience and expertise to offer? Apply to become a music mentor! Open to students in grades 11 and up who have lots of music/camp experience. Click here to learn more.
Bandology is the proud recipient of a Canada Summer Jobs grant in 2019 and 2018.
