Arts and Athletics

The Benefits of Arts and Athletics

We believe that arts and athletics are the bookends of a good well rounded education. Sometimes, being part of the band or the track team is what keeps young people engaged in and attending school. After all, who has fond memories of algebra class?

This summer, we partnered with Canadian track athletes who have won multiple medals in provincial, national and international competitions to add the athletic perspective to our band camp music program.

Arts and sport often go hand in hand for kids, whether it’s hockey and drama club, or band and the track team. Learn more about the professional athletes who came to our summer Band Camps to talk to kids about how arts and athletics shaped their lives.

The Benefits of Arts and Athletics

Bandology and KidSport Ontario set out to answer a simple question: what do the arts and sport actually do for a young person? We reviewed research from Canada, the United States, and around the world, covering mental health, school, friendships, healthy habits and long-term success.
