Praised for her “beautiful piccolo sound,” Canadian flautist and piccoloist Rachel Roe-Wu joined Orchestra Toronto in 2024, and was appointed the Principal Piccolo position in 2026. She recently graduated from the University of Toronto with her Master of Music in Performance where she studied with Camille Watts. She is an active orchestral and opera musician in the Greater Toronto Area, having performed with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, University of Toronto Opera, the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guelph Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Toronto. Originally from Mississauga, Rachel is a former member of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra (formerly Halton Mississauga Youth Orchestra from when she was a member). With her passion for music and music education, she hopes to inspire the next generation of musicians in a warm and encouraging environment.
