The goal of the phone zap was to urge the provincial government to consider the OMEA’s Safe Singing and Playing in Ontario Programs, Fall 2021, reopening guidelines.
This event gave participants the chance to improve school music education by phoning their representatives to ask them to direct school boards to return to singing and playing in their schools by considering the OMEA’s document Safe Singing and Playing in Ontario Music Programs for Fall 2021 written by a team of music educators in June 2021 using the latest science and research.
By phoning local MPPs, the Minister of Education and the Premier, parents demonstrated their unified voice about the importance of music education. This phone zap was hosted by Bandology in conjunction with the Ontario Music Educators’ Association (OMEA).
The phone zap took place on Monday, July 26 at 7 pm via Zoom. Everyone – parents, teachers, students, community members – are welcome. Many voices will make our message heard!
