About Nora Hammond
Originally from Hamilton, trumpet player Nora Nolan obtained her Bachelor of music in Performance from the University of Toronto and her Master of Music in Orchestral Studies from McGill University. She subsequently completed her Bachelor of Education at Charles Sturt University.
Nora has been principal trumpet with the Masterworks of Oakville Orchestra and Oakville Chamber Orchestra since 2006, and has served on the board of directors for each.
Over the years Nora has performed with the National Academy Orchestra of Brott Music Festivals, Orchestra Toronto, and the Burlington Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. She maintains a busy performing schedule, notably as a trumpeter for the diocese of Hamilton and the Cathedral of Christ the King.
Nora is currently the Director of Arts at Hillfield Strathallan College in Hamilton, where she has taught instrumental music since 2015. Since 2018, she has been a director with the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band organization. Ensembles under her direction have received highest honours at both regional and National competitions.
As a strong advocate for the community building power of music education, Nora is pleased to partner with Bandology programs.
