Interview Process

Thank you for applying to work at Bandology this summer. We appreciate your interest.

Our hiring process has three steps – an initial interview with our Executive Director, a second interview with staff and a member of our board of directors and then a reference check. During both interviews, we will ask you a range of questions and take notes. A list of likely questions to be asked will be provided in advance of your first interview.

We are also ready to answer all your questions during both interviews so please ask them!

Scheduling Your First Interview:

During the first interview, selected candidates meet with Bandology’s Executive Director Lisa Michaels to discuss the position, your background and synergies. She will also confirm your eligibility for the position, as per the Canada Summer Jobs requirement, and our organization’s requirement that all staff are fully vaccinated for all typical childhood illnesses as well as COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, and are prepared to get a police check or provide one already issued in 2026.

In preparation for this first interview, we suggest you review our website and social media channels. The interview will take place over Google Meet and last between 30-50 minutes.

If selected to move on, the second interview will be conducted with a member of our current staff and a member of the board of directors. They will ask a few questions, but this is your opportunity to ask all of your own questions. You will have the chance to go into a break-out room with a staff member to get the inside scoop on what working at Bandology is really like!

After the second interview, successful candidates will be asked for their references. We contact all references, so ensure you have provided both a phone number and an email address.

Interview Tips:

  • Be yourself! We want to get to know you and what you are like both personally and professionally.
  • Be prepared to share examples of projects you have worked on that relate to the job posting. We do not expect people to have every single requirement, but are looking for people who are well-rounded with a range of skills and are willing to learn and try new things.
  • Don’t be afraid to take your time – if you need a moment to think of your answer, just say so! We’d rather have a thought-out answer as it gives us a clearer idea of how you approach problem-solving, rather than how good you are at in-the-moment improvisation.
