Education Co-ordinator

Bandology is a proud Canadian non-profit dedicated to supporting more music for more kids via education, collaboration and community. We are looking to hire for the role of Education Co-ordinator to provide the business and administrative support for live and virtual summer camps and participate in the development of new camp and workshop programming.

About the Job:

  • Responsible for music educational programming administration and development, including camps, workshops, music parties and other initiatives
  • Act as the lead for new camp/workshop development and ensure that all participants have a fun and fulfilling experience
  • Research, develop and implement a music educational development strategy and tactics, identifying specific goals and measurable objectives
  • Develop the appropriate resources needed to engage participants in a fun and educational music program experience
  • Respond to requests for information about camps/workshops/parties 
  • Coordinate, schedule and support the camp coordinator, music director, sectional instructors, guests and music mentors for all camps
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to respond to and connect with participants and parents
  • Create and implement a series of surveys to measure programming outcomes with all audiences
  • Participate in interviews with external connections about the value of music education and ensure they are recorded, reviewed and uploaded to our platforms
  • Assist in developing a long-term plan for Bandology’s educational programming
  • Oversee the development of educational resources for music students and educators, both independently and in collaboration with staff, board members and community partners

About You:

  • Enrolled or graduated from a post-secondary program specializing in education or music education or similar
  • Ability to perform and instruct, at a high levels on percussion instruments, wind band instruments and/or piano
  • 2-5 years direct experience working in education, private lessons and/or camp
  • Camp experience, either as a camper or counsellor
  • Proven ability to lead and direct a team in a camp situation, working with both paid staff and volunteer mentors
  • First aid/CPR training with current certification would be a bonus
  • Excellent writing, research and interviewing skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking, both in person and online
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to use compassion and tact when dealing with campers, parents and other community members


  • Comfortable working independently from your own personal space (Bandology is a virtual office) with regular in-person meetings and events (as appropriate) with access to your own computer with reliable internet connection
  • Experience with Google suite of programs, social media and public speaking
  • A wide base of transferable skills including organization, time management, self regulation, collaboration and leadership
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the team
  • Creativity – new ideas are welcomed at Bandology! 
  • A background in instrumental music, whether from music class, piano lessons or personal interest
  • A passion for music and a belief in the long-term value of music education
  • A police check and adherence to our vaccination policy will be required for the successful candidate

  • In addition to working with the staff team, staff may work closely with Board members from diverse backgrounds with varied experience who provide mentorship
  • Remote work utilizing a central Google drive for files and regular Zoom meetings. When able, we host an in-person meeting each week in Oakville, outdoors and physically distanced.
  • An extensive on-boarding program during the first week to learn about the organization, processes and procedures, and our culture.
  • A flexible work environment where you can set your own hours
  • All staff work together collaboratively during Band Camp weeks and are expected to fully participate in person
